Quick Apply Full-time 5 hours ago Full Job Description The core role of the Education Specialist is to ensure that every aspect of the Amazing Explorers Academy curriculum and all related educational programs are implemented in accordance with AEA corporate standards, for every age group and every classroom, including the STEAM hands-on experience activities.
He or she will mentor, develop, and inspire the teachers assigned to each classroom and together with the school Director help to ensure every teacher is empowered to effectively teach the curriculum according to AEA Standards and without any deviations.
The Education Specialist reports to the school Director but must be fully compliant, knowledgeable, and able to represent the school Director when deemed necessary.
Therefore, candidates must have, or be willing to develop, a solid knowledge of childcare facility management, early education theory, general business operation skills and financial planning competence.
He or she will be responsible for opening and closing of the school at least 50% of the time and may be required at any moment to step into a classroom and take on the teacher role when necessary to maintain appropriate child-teacher ratios.
All required training is paid and there is ample room for personal growth and development within the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES Mentoring Teachers in AEA Curriculum Delivery, State Standards, and Performance Spends most of her/his working hours (up to 80% of the time) interacting, working, assisting, monitoring, mentoring, and training the teachers.
Analyzes and reviews all students' work, including projects, presentations, and performances; assessment results; teacher observation records and checklists.
Assures that teachers are following schedules, lesson plans and utilizing age-appropriate materials and products.
Completes weekly inventory to evaluate required class materials, submits Purchase Request to school Director, describing materials, quantity, and how these materials will be used.
Develops new teaching strategies by analyzing videotaped teacher instruction sessions and using peer observations, collaboratively with the school Director.
Identifies domains in which teachers need additional mentoring, development, and coaching.
Meets on a weekly basis with the Director of Education to review and discuss program philosophy, ensuring correct implementation of the curriculum and framework, guidelines, tasks, and outlining any curriculum delivery deviations that may be derailing the effectiveness of AEA Standards.
Enhances instructional effectiveness and promotes students' learning adhering to AEA Standards.
Engages in onboarding every new teacher in every aspect of the curriculum program in direct and constant collaboration and feedback from the school Director and Director of Education.
Ensures teachers are consistently arranging classrooms in a manner that is consistent with the children's development, physical, and emotional levels.
Ensures child assessments occur on a regular basis in Infant through School Age Programs and classrooms.
Ensures parent teacher conferences are held at least twice a year in all classrooms and assessment reports are provided to parents in a timely manner.
Clearly establishes and models suitable child guidance techniques and AEA and State Standards.
Monitors parent and teacher interaction to ensure communication and proactive problem resolution.
Coordinates and assumes responsibility for all aspects of Book Fair.
Demonstrates constant collaboration and assists with all school events including internal promotion and coordination.
Coordinates and assumes responsibility for summer camp and school holiday activities.
Technical Competencies and Management Performance Demonstrates strong ability to multitask, responding to emails in a timely manner and helping to keep systems and AEA APP up to date while performing other duties.
Shows accountability in all aspects of the operation in absence of the school Director.
Works with the school Director to ensure compliance with all state-mandated teacher-child ratios; state and municipal statutes and regulations relating to the operation of childcare Schools; state and federal wage and hour laws; and Company policies and procedures.
Behaves professionally and demonstrates emotional intelligence, always demonstrating good judgment in handling crisis situations; ensures to document all incidents in a timely manner, following the approved channel of communication with the school Director and AEA Management.
Demonstrates clear ability to mentor, develop, and encourage teachers and establishes good people skills when working with teachers, parents, or corporate-level management.
Assumes responsibility in overseeing each classroom's day to day procedures and maintains administrative duty of teachers in the absence of the school Director.
Promotes AEA culture of innovation, teacher empowerment, and motivation through recognition and celebration awards according to AEA Standards.
Assists the school Director in scheduling teachers and ensuring lunch breaks are covered.
Works with the school Director to establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by (a) adhering to all Company procedures related to injuries and accidents, (b) verbally communicating to students and teachers regarding potential hazards or injuries and (c) and routinely performing safety audits.
Reports suspected child abuse or neglect to the school Director and participates in documenting information as required by local child protective agencies or child abuse laws.
Documents all incident, accidents reports, and advises parents and the school Director of the situation.
Cultivates a positive workplace environment by modeling professional behavior with teachers, students, school Director, families, and the community, and Corporate Management.
Monitors cleanliness of the school which may include cleaning the classroom by sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
Ensures daily cleaning checklists are conducted and that AEA is always tour ready.
In the absence of the Nutrition Aide, the Education Specialist may, on occasion, prepare, cook and/or serve meals when necessary to students.
If deemed necessary, the Education Specialist, may, on occasion, be responsible for transporting children as a van/bus driver.
Other duties as assigned by the school Director, Director of Education, and/or owner.
Professional Interpersonal Relationships with Families and Students Builds positive and professional relationships with the families.
Updates social media and APP content as outlined by AEA guidelines.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in communications with students and families.
Works with the school Director to send parents a monthly newsletter with information about the curriculum, events, and relevant information.
Connects directly to community resources for additional support of children and families.
In the absence of the Enrollment Coordinator, the Education Specialist participates in AEA tours with prospective families and supports the school Directors with conducting follow-up emails and phone calls with families.
AEA Administrative and Financial Competencies Performance Understands the financial performance of the school, including tuition goals, payroll percentages and other financial KPIs.
In the absence of the school Director, the Education Specialist assumes responsibility with completing weekly tuition charges in the AEA App.
In the absence of the school Director, the Education Specialist assumes responsibility with reconciling payroll hours and timecards to ensure the timely delivery of payroll processing.
OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide exceptional customer service to visitors and parents and monitors visitor access.
Ensures all visitors and tours are signed in appropriately.
Demonstrates an awareness of cultural sensitivity in communicating and working with families, colleagues, and community.
Demonstrates an awareness of community resources for additional support for families.
May open or close the school as needed.
Creates partnerships within the community to promote brand awareness; attends local community events.
Develops a relevant list of events to involve the school and families and leverages digital media to share monthly activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must meet state licensing requirements for this position, and all requirements relating to background checks, fingerprinting, education, and experience as set by the state and accreditation agent.
Must meet Company driving standards where applicable.
Must obtain State Staff Credential (CDA) or state equivalent as required.
Director's Credential preferred or willingness to obtain during employment, to be considered for promotions.
Must have at least two years of experience in a licensed childcare school with at least one year in a management or supervisory position.
Must be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the English language.
Travel approximately 5-20% of the time.
EDUCATION High School Diploma.
Required.
Preferred:
bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development or Curriculum Development or related field.
